A groundbreaking ceremony has taken place for the construction of a Technical and Vocational Education and Training facility at the C.H. Dewey Public School in Bomi County. Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony over the weekend, European Union Representative, Lorpu Scott emphasized the importance of the project for the youth of Liberia.
Scott noted that the project is a renewal of the European Union’s commitment to providing opportunities and quality education to the youth of Liberia. She emphasized that every Liberian child deserves a better and safer learning environment. The project is collaboration between the European Union and the Government of Liberia to implement Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Liberia.
Scott highlighted that this is the second phase of the project, which will be implemented in eight counties and ten schools. She called on the young people of Bomi County to own the project, as it is a shared value of the European Union’s commitment to a better Liberia through education.
For his part, the Deputy Minister for Instructions at the Ministry of Education, Amos A. Fully, thanked the European Union and its partners for the project. Fully said it has been a long-time dream of the county, as it was one of the challenges facing young people to have a space to learn different skills.
He noted that this is a commitment of the Joseph Boakai administration through the ARREST agenda for inclusive development, educating the youthful generation. The project is a partnership between the Government of Liberia, European Union, and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) through the Youth Rising Project.
