The Chairperson of the National Elections Commission of Liberia (NEC-Liberia), Davidetta Browne Lansanah, has called on Liberian women to muster the courage to actively participate in elections and democratic governance. Madam Browne Lansanah emphasized that women possess valuable ideas capable of improving society, yet many hesitate to speak out.
She encouraged women not to shy away from issues that directly impact Liberia’s electoral process. The NEC Chairperson delivered the message on Saturday, 22 November 2025, while officially opening the Grand Cape Mount County Electoral Reform Consultation in Robertsport City.
According to a release, the ongoing Electoral Reform Consultation has brought together citizens and key stakeholders in Robertsport to share their views on proposed amendments to the New Elections Law of Liberia. This marks the final phase of the western region consultations, led by NEC’s Head of Legal Section, Cllr. A. Teage Jalloh, alongside the Deputy Executive Director for Programs, Ignatius B. Wisseh. The Electoral Law Reform Consultation is being implemented by the NEC in collaboration with the Government of Liberia, UNDP Liberia Electoral Support Project, which is supported by the European Union, IrishAid, and Sweden.
