CMC Suffers Setback

CMC-Suffers-Setback CMC Political Leader Musa Hassan Bility

The Citizen Movement for Change (CMC) has suffered a setback after the Ministry of Public Works (MPW) denied its request for Review and Approval of Design Documents for the Construction of a 38-meter bridge in Bong County. The denial was made through a communication sent to CMC National Chairman James M.V. Yougie on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

Public Works Minister Roland Giddings said he acknowledged receipt of a letter dated October 16, 2025, submitting design documents for the construction of a 38m bridge in Bong County. Minister Giddings said the government, through an allocated budget for the Ministry, has a plan to construct the subject bridge and is in the process of finalizing all technical documents for a contractor.

Giddings stated that he has reviewed the submitted documents and would like to advise that any future requests for bridge construction should include the following technical information with the CMC request to facilitate the review and approval processes. He said CMC should submit a site topography study report, a geotechnical investigation report, a hydrological and hydraulic report, a structural analysis and design, and full working drawings.

Minister Giddings indicated that the Ministry appreciates CMC’s efforts in promoting development in the country and looks forward to future collaboration.  It can be recalled that CMC Political Leader Musa Hassan Bility and Representative Marvin Cole launched the construction of a new bridge over the Jor River in Gbarnga, Bong County. The bridge was intended to connect communities, improve transportation, and bring lasting benefits to thousands of residents.
