A major investment opportunity could be on the horizon for Grand Bassa County, as Superintendent Karyou Johnson led a high-level Korean delegation on a site tour in the historic City of Edina over the weekend. The delegation, headed by James Juhee Han of MAKE Group of Companies – Korea, visited potential tourism investment sites as part of a strategic initiative to explore Liberia’s growing tourism sector. The visit coincides with President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, Sr.’s push to establish a National Tourism Board under the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID).

Superintendent Johnson, in welcoming the team, presented Edina’s rich historical value and natural appeal, describing it as an untapped destination for tourism development. He emphasized the County’s readiness for foreign investment and reassured the delegation of Grand Bassa’s stability and commitment to cooperation.

Mr. Han, speaking through an interpreter, expressed strong confidence in Liberia’s investment climate, noting that his company had assessed the country over the past three years. MAKE Group is now taking the lead in drawing other Korean firms—including Han and Brothers and ALLFORLAND Group into Grand Bassa’s development space.

Edina City Mayor Lady M. Benson, during a brief welcome ceremony, announced that over 100 acres of land have been earmarked to support incoming development projects. She highlighted the long-term benefits of foreign direct investment, including job creation and social development initiatives for local communities. The visit signals a new chapter for Edina and Grand Bassa, positioning the region as a promising hub for tourism investment in Liberia. Credit: Ablee-Jay TV
