The Multisectoral Steering Committee on Drugs and Substance Abuse has successfully concluded a three-day workshop to review and validate Liberia’s first National Anti-Drug Action Plan (2025–2030). According to a release issued in Monrovia, September 26, 2025, the 5-year strategic Plan, developed through an inclusive process, is designed as a comprehensive framework to strengthen Liberia’s holistic fight against drugs and substance abuse. Its validation marks a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to combat the growing challenge of substance abuse.

The review and validation exercise brought together technical experts and stakeholders from the three branches of Government—Legislature, Executive, and Judiciary—alongside civil society organizations, religious leaders from both the Christian and Muslim communities, and representatives of the United Nations. With the conclusion of this workshop, Liberia now has a validated National Anti-Drug Action Plan that will guide policy, coordination, and implementation of interventions in the years ahead.
