As the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) launched a manhunt for a notorious drug dealer in Ganta, Nimba County, the Officer-in-Charge, Fitzgerald Biago, has assured that the suspect will be rearrested and brought to justice. According to an LDEA release, the decision to launch a manhunt for Charles Taylor followed his escape from a holding cell in Ganta, Nimba County.
Suspect Taylor, known for his involvement in the illicit drug trade across Nimba County, was captured by local residents on August 19, 2025, and turned over to the LDEA. However, he managed to escape custody under questionable circumstances. The incident has sparked public outrage in Ganta City, where residents are demanding swift action and the re-arrest of the suspect.
“The agency takes this matter seriously. Any officer found responsible for his escape will face the full weight of the law,” Biago said. Meanwhile, the LDEA has ordered its general commander of Nimba County and the Ganta commander to immediately proceed to Monrovia to face the LDEA Board of interrogation. Biago emphasized that the agency will not tolerate any attempt to undermine Liberia’s war on drugs.
