A high-level team from the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) conducted a successful community engagement in the King Gray Community of Paynesville over the weekend, a community often referred to as a hub for illicit drug activities.

According to a press release, the engagement yielded positive results, as the leadership and citizens of King Gray unanimously pledged their full cooperation with the LDEA to ensure the community is free from the sale and abuse of narcotic substances. In a major show of support, Darlington Kprnnah and community elders officially turned over the unfinished administrative building to the LDEA for use as a temporary operational base.

Furthermore, the facility will allow officers to maintain a strong presence in the area and intensify targeted operations to dismantle drug trafficking networks. The King Gray leadership expressed gratitude to the LDEA for engaging them directly and reaffirmed their commitment to work alongside the Agency to safeguard their youth, restore peace, and uphold the rule of law.

Speaking on behalf of the Agency, Deputy Officer-in-Charge Patrick Kamasu assured residents that the LDEA remains resolute in its mandate to curb drug trafficking and consumption across Liberia. The Agency emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader national effort. Several community engagements are expected to be rolled out across the country as the interim leadership of the LDEA seeks to build public confidence and mobilize community support in the collective fight against the abuse and trafficking of illicit drugs.
