Bong County District #3 Representative, Josiah Marvin Cole, has donated more than US$14,860 worth of food items to residents of his district in Gbarnga. The donation took place over the weekend at the lawmaker’s official residence, attracting supporters, community leaders, and beneficiaries.
According to Representative Cole, over 600 bags of rice and other assorted food items were distributed among more than 2000 elderly people and young residents of the district. He said the initiative is to identify with his constituents in the midst of economic challenges. Cole described the donation as a gesture of solidarity during a period when many Liberians are finding it difficult to meet their basic needs.
Representative Cole disclosed that the gesture followed his recent trip to the United States, where he attended an event organized by the United Bong County Citizens in the Americas (UBCCA). He said the visit provided him an opportunity to advocate for development support for his district.
As part of the expected outcomes of that advocacy, he revealed that medical supplies are set to be delivered to District #3 in the coming months, though he did not specify a date for the arrival of the supplies. Cole urged residents to embrace the United Bong Agenda, which he said seeks to promote reconciliation, peace, and development in the county. “Unity and reconciliation are critical if Bong County and Liberia as a whole must progress,” he emphasized. Several beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Representative Cole, saying the gesture was timely.
