Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), Chairman, Janga Kowo, says the departure of Montserrado County Senator Saah H. Joseph from the party is a major blow. Senator Joseph recently resigned from the CDC and announced the formation of his political party.
Senator Joseph, in his resignation letter, stated that the decision was not to be taken lightly and appreciated the opportunities to serve the nation through the CDC, which, as a grassroots party founded in 2005, has played a pivotal role in Liberian politics, growth and development.
“I have come to realize that my vision for Liberia’s future and my personal values are no longer aligned with the party’s direction. I want to express my gratitude to the leadership, members, and supporters of the CDC for their dedication and hard work. I have been honored to serve alongside such a talented and committed group of individuals,” Senator Joseph wrote.
Speaking on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at an Intellectual Center, Kowo said he hopes that Senator Joseph will come to his senses and rethink his decision to leave the party. He said the senator’s departure is bad for the CDC and a wake-up call to do more before the 2029 presidential election. However, he added that it cannot stop CDC from returning to power.
