Grave US Concerns Result In Creation OF Task Force…As Boakai Initiates Response Efforts

In response to wide-ranging concerns raised by the Government of the United States, which, if left unaddressed, could lead to the imposition of a travel ban, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has established a high-level Presidential Task Force to lead a coordinated and cross-sectoral response.

Recognizing that the matters identified span multiple government ministries and agencies, the President will himself chair the Task Force, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs designated as Co-Chair.  The Task The Task Force will include the following key institutions:

  1. Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  2. Ministry of Justice
  3. Ministry of Health
  4. Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs
  5. Liberia National Police
  6. Office of the National Security Advisor
  7. National Security Agency

The inaugural meeting of the Task Force was held on June 17, 2025, at the Executive Mansion. It was chaired by the President and attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Justice, the Inspector General of the Liberia National Police, the Minister of State without Portfolio for Special Services, and the National Security Advisor.

Following its initial deliberations, the Task Force has developed a joint multi-sectoral work plan aimed at addressing the concerns comprehensively and with urgency.

Implementation of the work plan will be carried out in close collaboration with the U.S. Government and will be subject to ongoing monitoring and evaluation to ensure accountability and results.

President Boakai highlighted his Administration’s commitment to upholding good governance, the rule of law, and Liberia’s longstanding partnership with the United States.
