The Executive Committee Members of the National Patriotic Party (NPP) have stood in unwavering solidarity with the former Vice President of Liberia Madam Jewel Howard-Taylor in her pursuit of retirement benefits earned through dedicated services to Liberia.

In a press release issued Monday, April 14, 2025, the leadership of NPP said  It is with a profound sense of urgency and justice that ‘‘we call upon the Government of Liberia to honor its commitments and fulfill its obligations to one of its distinguished leaders.’’

The NPP said former Vice President Taylor served the nation with integrity, resilience and unwavering commitment to the betterment of Liberia; her contributions have been pivotal in advancing national development, fostering peace, and promoting the welfare of all Liberians.

“It is both unjust and unacceptable that she, after years of commendable service, faces obstacles in receiving what is rightfully hers. We emphasize that this issue transcends mere bureaucratic oversight; it is a matter of principle, respect, and legal obligation,” the NPP said.

NPP release stated that the failure to provide her entitled benefits not only undermines her legacy but also sets a perilous precedent for future officeholders who dedicate their lives to the public good.

“The Government of Liberia must recognize that honoring these commitments is not merely a legal duty but a moral imperative. It reflects the values of fairness, respect, and accountability upon which our democracy is built. Any further delay or denial in addressing this matter erodes public trust and diminishes the dignity of the offices that serve our nation,” the press release stated.

Meanwhile, the NPP leadership urged the responsible authorities to expedite the process and ensure that the former Vice President receives her full retirement benefits without further delay. The party added that it is a critical moment for the government to demonstrate its commitment to justice and to uphold the rights of those who have tirelessly served our beloved country.
