As a way of helping people with disabilities in Liberia, The Global Outreach Ministry based in the United States of America has donated assorted food and non-food items to the Group of 77.

The donation includes crutches, toilets, walkers, wheelchairs, clothing, pinto beans and oil, which is estimated at US$20,000, with shipping costs of $6,221, and $1966 as expenses for clearance and transportation costs in Liberia.

Speaking Wednesday, March 12, 2025, during the turnover ceremony, Father Dr. James T. Yarsiah, Priest-in-Charge of the Global Outreach Ministry, a U.S.-based clergy, said that the donation is part of the tenth 40-foot container sent to Liberia since Ophelia Yarsiah (his wife) established the Global Outreach Ministry in 2006.

According to him, the initiative is an expression of Christian love and a commitment to the Great Commission, as stated in Matthew 28:19-20. It aims to support Liberia’s most vulnerable groups, particularly people living with disabilities.

The Priest-in-Charge of the Global Outreach Ministry explained that the donated items were not intended for personal gains, but for broad distribution at the discretion of local institutions.

“My church and I believe that the best way to give is to serve those who need help the most people who may not be as fortunate as we are. We do this not for recognition, but because Jesus taught us to care for the hungry, the sick, and the needy. We hope these supplies will strengthen the Group of 77 and other institutions that provide care to those in need,” Father Yarsiah stated.

He further pledged to continue seeking support for Liberia, ensuring that churches, schools, and vulnerable groups receive the assistance they need.

Representatives of beneficiary institutions expressed deep gratitude for the donations, describing them as timely and impactful. “These materials are arriving at a crucial time and will go a long way in supporting our work,” one representative said.

However, the arrival of the items underscores the ongoing commitment of the Global Outreach Ministry to Liberia and reaffirms the power of faith-based humanitarian efforts in transforming lives.
