Liberia’s Minister of Education, Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah, has reaffirmed her commitment to revitalizing Teacher Training Institutes (TTIs) as a cornerstone for enhancing the quality of education nationwide.
During the official induction ceremony of the Kakata Rural Teachers Training Institute in Kakata, Margibi County, Minister Jallah emphasized the pivotal role of TTIs in shaping Liberia’s education sector.
According to a release dated February 17, 2025, she pledged to implement significant reforms to ensure that teacher training programs are dynamic, effective, and aligned with modern educational demands.
She further assured that under her leadership, TTI graduates will be equipped with the necessary knowledge, skills, and confidence to deliver high-quality education across the country.
Highlighting the importance of master trainers, Minister Jallah stressed the need for modern instructional methodologies to empower educators with advanced teaching techniques.
She also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of Liberia’s development partners, recognizing their role in strengthening capacity-building initiatives for sustainable teacher education. In a related development, Madam Sorna Sheriff was officially inducted as the Director of the Kakata Rural Teacher Training Institute (KRTTI).
In her inaugural address, she expressed deep gratitude to the Ministry of Education, her family, and colleagues, emphasizing that her appointment is not just a position but a profound responsibility. She pledged to lead KRTTI with integrity, teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to academic excellence.
Madam Sheriff reaffirmed KRTTI’s vital role in training skilled educators, particularly through its “B” and “C” Certificate Programs, which prepare teachers for deployment across all 15 counties of Liberia.
She emphasized that quality teacher education is fundamental to national development, underscoring the essential role of teachers in shaping future generations and driving socio-economic progress.
