The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) welcomes the recent Performance Report issued by NAYMOTE Liberia, covering the period from January to December 2024.
According to a press release dated Monday, February 24,20205, The Ministry recognizes the importance of these assessments and is encouraged by the opportunity to reflect its progress under Pillar 5, Gender, Youth, Children, and Social Protection, where it received a rating of 70%.
The ministry said these evaluations contribute to a national-driven effort to ensure government institutions remain accountable, delivering timely and effective services to the Liberian people The Ministry believes this civil society-led initiative is vital in urging government institutions to meet the needs of the Liberian people with excellence.
“We appreciate the thorough tracking and evaluation provided, which plays a crucial role in holding institutions accountable for delivering high-quality services”, the release stated.
According to the release, the ministry values this feedback and there is room for improvement, adding that looking ahead to 2025, it is committed to fulfilling its objectives and delivering on its promises, hoping to achieve an improved rating in the next reporting period.
“In this regard, the Ministry expresses heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for his overwhelming support under his leadership, His unwavering commitment to national development and dedication to delivering on key promises has been a guiding force for our work, and we are proud to contribute to his vision for a better Liberia,” the release said.
MoGCSP extends profound thanks to all stakeholders, local and international partners for their critical support, which enables us to achieve our goals and positively impact the lives of those most in need.
In another development, the Ministry of Gender is taken aback by recent comments from members of the Student Unification Party (SUP), who claimed that the Gender Minister has been silent on the rising violence against women and children in Liberia.
The Ministry strongly refutes these falsehoods, viewing this approach as a deliberate attempt to divert attention from the real issues.
For the record, the ministry said, under the leadership of Minister Gbeme Horace-Kollie, it has been very proactive in advocating for the rights of women, children, and vulnerable populations.
This includes taking appropriate action to support survivors of gender-based violence and launching an impactful legacy program that addresses the needs of children in street situations amongst others.
“We urge Ms. Bendu M. Q. Kamara and the SUP Women’s Bureau to move beyond criticism and get a deeper understanding of the Ministry’s work. This, we believe, will enable the university-based student political group to better guide their statements and accurately track the Ministry’s performance, as NAYMOTE Liberia has done,” The Gender Ministry release said.
The release urged SUP Women Bureau to refrain from politicizing the fight against gender-based violence (GBV) and instead join the Ministry of Gender’s awareness campaign in promoting a violence-free community for our women and children.
