During her recent visit to Paris, France, Education of Liberia Minister Jarso Maley Jallah engaged in a series of high-level partnership discussions aimed at strengthening education initiatives in Liberia.

One of the key outcomes of these discussions was a groundbreaking agreement with the Women’s Legacy Project, which has committed to providing free training for female science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) teachers in Liberia, a release issued in Monrovia over the weekend said.

As a direct result of this collaboration, the Ministry of Education, in partnership with the Women’s Legacy Project, officially launched a three-day Training of Trainers (TOT) Program for Female STEM Teachers on Wednesday, February 12th, 2025 at the TVET Training Center in Kakata, Margibi County.

The TOT will equip 40 female STEM teachers with advanced skills and teaching methodologies in STEM, enabling them to roll out training programs in counties nationwide.

Liberia will also serve as the pilot country for the Women’s Legacy Network initiative in Africa, further solidifying the country’s commitment to advancing gender equity in education.

Minister Jallah emphasized the significance of this initiative, stating: “Investing in our female STEM educators is an investment in the future of Liberia.  This partnership will not only enhance teaching quality but also inspire young girls to pursue careers in STEM fields.”

The training program will cover modern teaching techniques and hands-on STEM applications to enhance classroom engagement. Participants will benefit from expert-led sessions, interactive workshops, and resource-sharing opportunities.

The Ministry of Education remains committed to fostering strategic partnerships that promote quality education and professional development for teachers across the country. This training is timely as the establishment of fully functional science laboratories in select public schools around the country are currently ongoing.
