Talking Drum Studio: Liberia Peace Center – (TDS) Liberia, in partnership with the Population Media Center with funding from Sweden Sverige, is currently conducting a two-day reflection and learning meeting and conflict-sensitive reporting journalism training in Gbarnga, Bong County.

The Talking Drum Studio Liberia Peace Center, in partnership with funding from Sweden Sverige, has launched a two-day workshop in Gbarnga to focus on the PMC-TDS Liberia Radio Serial Drama and project reflection.

The workshop, which is being held in Bong County, aims to engage journalists at various community radio stations in dialogue and reflection on the impact of the radio serial drama and its contribution to peacebuilding.

The PMC-TDS Liberia Radio Serial Drama – Barnusietehdeh project, meaning Let’s Do the Right Thing, is implemented by Talking Drum Studio and funded by Sweden Sverige and has been airing on 35 radio stations across Liberia since 2023.

The Barnusietehdeh-meaning Let’s Do the Right Thing serial Drama is A Multimedia Entertainment-Education-Centered Approach intended to Achieving Greater Gender Equality & Cohesion In Liberia issues such as conflict resolution, reconciliation, and good governance. It has been widely acclaimed by community members for its ability to educate and engage listeners on pressing social and gander meditation.

Additionally, participants are expected to share their experiences, challenges, and successes in implementing the project. The workshop has attracted participants from various counties across Liberia, as well as representatives from local radio stations.

Meanwhile, the Barnusietehdeh Project Officer at Talking Drum Studio, Ms. Mary N. Toe, stresses that TDS Liberia and partner Population Media Center have successfully implemented two transformative initiatives, the Sida-funded Gender, Social Cohesion Project and the USAID-funded Liberia Media activity.

The event is expected to promote dialogue, understanding, and reconciliation among community radio stations, and to enhance the impact of the radio serial drama in promoting peace and sustainable development in Liberia.
