The Grass-root Pastors Association of Liberia appeals to President Joseph N. Boakai to reject any recommendation of names made by the University of Liberia (UL) President Search Committee due to unfairness in the process.

The association’s President, Rev. Dr. George Zorbah, said based on information gathered by the organization, they are recommending Dr. John Wulu, a Liberian educator based in the United States as President of UL.

Addressing a press conference held in Monrovia over the weekend, Zorbah said the report of the UL President Search Committee is conflicting because it has been infiltrated by some politicians, though he failed to name anyone.

According to the Grass Root Pastors Association, President Boakai should bring in a neutral person who has the international contact to mobilize the needed resources to run the university, including faculty and students exchange to build human resource capacity of the institution.

Reverend Zorbah said that the university is sitting on a time bomb because politicians are contemplating using it as a source for unrest in the country.

He said the UL lacks people with innovation to generate the necessary funding from outside sources because the institution is not supposed to be depending on the government hundred percent for funding.

According to him, Doctor Wulu, who is also a graduate of the UL, has the necessary qualifications and international contact to bring about changes at the institution.
