As the struggle to remove House of Representatives Speaker J. Fonati Koffa continues, the embattled speaker has told the Majority Bloc lawmakers seeking to oust him that he won’t give them a dime.

Speaking on Spoon Network on late Tuesday, October 22, 2024, Speaker Koffa said a dime will not be given to anybody to come to work or to influence them not to have him removed from the speakership position.

“I stand on what I have done; I have not been a perfect speaker and I’ve made some mistakes which I’m willing to admit by apologizing, but I will not pay a dime,” Speaker Koffa said.

Speaker Koffa said he was shock over the action of some of the masterminds who signed the resolution to have him removed, as they are beneficiaries of the very committees they accuse him of arbitrarily establishing, including Representatives Samuel Kogar and Anthony Williams, who all ringleaders of the coup.

When quizzed about his interest in the 2029 Presidential Election, Speaker Koffa said he is a member of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) and will vote for George M. Weah in 2029.

“I’m a Sass Town boy and former President Weah is also a Sass Town boy, and you cannot have two of us in the election in 2029.  And I will not challenge Weah for the Presidency.

Speaker Koffa said he is hopeful that before the next session, some of the members of the contending bloc will rescind their decisions, as several mean well and stand in the interest of Liberia
