The 6th Judicial Circuit, Civil Law Court of Montserrado, has ordered a full trial in a Petition for Declaratory Judgment filed against the Interim Committee of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL). According to a release dated September 23, 2024, the petition alleges that the Committee engaged in undemocratic actions to enthrone Julius K. Kanubah as the president of the Union.

Former President Charles B. Coffey, Jr., Musa MB Kenneh, Mae Azango, and Aloysius Makor submitted the petition on Friday, September 21, 2024, seeking to overturn the recent election for PUL leadership, which they claim denied them full membership participation.

During a conference on Monday, Judge Golda A. Bonah-Elliot instructed the Committee led by Mr. Peter Quaqua to hire legal counsel and submit their response to the Declaratory Judgment within ten days, as they did not have legal representation present at the conference.

Additionally, Team Unity has stated that they are closely monitoring the actions of the Peter Quaqua faction. They warn that any attempts to induct individuals as unauthorized leaders of the Union will be met with appropriate legal action.
