Amidst several incidents of violence in the country recently, the Liberian National Police (LNP) has condemned such acts and vowed to do all it can to maintain peace in Liberia. Speaking Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at the Ministry of Information regular press briefing, Col. William K. Mulbah, Deputy Inspector General for Administration of the LNP, called on Liberians to avoid all forms of violence and make it their habit of seeking legal redress in times of problems or dissatisfaction.
Responding to the recent riot at the Collation for Democracy Change (CDC) headquarters outside Monrovia, he said nobody died as claimed by the CDC and at no time did any police officer enter their compound while the clash between partisans and police unfolded.
He said the individual’s picture posted on social media as one who died during the incidence is quite alive and was expected to be discharged from hospital later Tuesday, after which he will be sent to court.
According to him, three officers were beaten and equipment stolen as the result of the protest. However, Deputy Inspector General Walmont K. Mulbah admitted that the police response was poor; thankfully, there were no deaths although three officers were hospitalized.
Mulbah stressed that the police will continue to remain professional to ensure that it serves everyone and not one group of people. “We are here to keep the peace, and will maintain the peace at all cost no matter what happens,” he said.
