The Government of Liberia has debunked reports that it had withdrawn the nomination of Cllr. Jonathan Massaquoi as Executive Director of the War and Economic War Crime Court Office.Addressing the Ministry of Information regular press briefing on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, Deputy Information Minister for Public Affair, Daniel Sando, said the Liberian media should do due diligence in its reportage, as local and international partners always rely on media reports.

He said Cllr. Massaquoi is presently representing the country outside of Liberia, but someone in the local media for some unknown reasons decided to share misleading information.

“Executive Mansion says President Boakai has immense confidence in the ability of Cllr. Jonathan Massaquoi as the Executive Director of the Office of the War and Economic Crimes Court and has not withdrawn any nomination,” he said.

Minister Sando said Cllr. Massaquoi is currently on a mission abroad in the interest of the Office and is expected to make a full report to the President upon his return. According to him, the public is advised to rely only on official sources of information from the government on official matters.
