Montserrado County Senator, A. Darius Dillon has clarified that no senator has received their portion of the US$45,000 vehicles.
Speaking on Thursday, July 4, 2024 on Radio Bushrod, Senator Dillon said the propaganda for the 2029 presidential election is coming too early and is bad for those spreading false information. Dillon disclosed that senators are yet to go through the process of acquiring the vehicles.
The Montserrado Senator’s response comes in the wake speculation by some members of the House of Representatives that senators have received vehicles.
According to Dillon, lawmakers from the House of Representatives believe in false and misleading information from some media entities about them getting vehicles.
“Today is July 4, 2024, if anybody can provide evidence that I (Dillon) received a vehicle from the 2024 budget then I will resign as senator of Montserrado County,” he said.
The Legislature allotted for each of the 103 lawmakers to purchase US$45,000 new vehicles every three years, deriving a total of US$90,000 for each lawmaker’s vehicles every six years.
On Tuesday, July 2, 2024 about four members of the House of Representatives were seen riding tricycles or Kekeh to work as a protest for government’s delay in purchasing vehicles for them.
