The Minister of Education, Jarso M. Jallah has informed the Liberian Senate that about 2,000 volunteer teachers will be recruited from across the country.
Speaking Tuesday, July 2, 2024, Minister Jallah said assessment, identification and vetting of volunteer teachers will run from July 8-31, 2024 before the recruitment process begins. She disclosed that the total number of the teachers will be listed following the recruitment.
She said recruitment, training and qualified of volunteer teachers will run from August 1-30, 2024; adding that ministry will work with Civil Servant Agency (CSA) to place almost 50% (970) of the vetted and trained 2000 volunteer teachers.
She said it will Include STEM and females on payroll for the second half of the FY 2024 (July- December) budget year.
Minister Jallah said from August 1 to December 31, 2024 after the recruitment process, about 970 (almost 50%) of the 2000 volunteer teachers will be placed on the payroll-and be in classroom improving learning incomes.
According to her, there are some good volunteer teachers but some others do not belong in the classroom because they are Liberians that desire to impact society in other areas.
Meanwhile, Minister Jallah disclosed that there are plans to establish three regional hubs and three facilities for Monitoring and Evaluation officers.
