President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has named Mr. Christopher K. Peters as Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) with immediate effect.
The President’s decision to name Peters followed the suspension of Abraham S. Kromah, Director General, Hassan Fadiga, Deputy Director General for Operations and Gbawou Kowou, Deputy Director General for Administration. He has also ordered an investigation of the three men.
According to an Executive Mansion release, Peters will remain in charge of the LDEA pending the conclusion of the investigation.
President Boakai said the acts of disorder and chaos that took place at the headquarters of the LDEA on Monday, June 3, 2024 were unacceptable.
He frowned that such acts threaten public peace and undermine the government’s fight against illicit drugs.
Kromah and Fadiga have been embroiled into confusion since their appointment at LDEA.
The interim appointment of Peters is no surprise to the law enforcement professionals because he is a well-trained security personnel with wealth experience reflecting over 15 years of progressive works in law enforcement and investigations in competitive environments.
He is trained criminal justice practitioner, whose activities focus on investigations, national security, threat analysis, protection of personnel and facilities as well as principal security advisor on host country law enforcement and security matters.
Relative to his competence, Peters is knowledgeable is security and protection awareness and has the ability to detect violations, enforce laws and build peace.
He is no stranger to the security sector of Liberia. He comes to the interim role with competence in surveillance, intelligence, and investigations
He holds a Master’s degree in Public Sector Management from the Cuttington University Graduate and Professional School and Bachelor in Criminal Justice Administration from the A.M.E. Zion University.
Presently, Peters is the Acting Senior Foreign Service National Investigator/Diplomatic Security at the U.S Embassy in Monrovia.
He is an ex-officer of the Liberia National Police (LNP) basic police training class one.
