The Liberia Marketing Association (LMA) is said to have put ‘rotten onions’ on the local market for sale.
Our investigation uncovered that the LMA through a Nigerian woman, brought into the commerce of Liberia few days ago, several bags of spoiled onions, which is declared unfit for consumption.
Sources told this paper on Thursday, May 9, 2024 that the LMA through the Offices of its Business Manager and Chief Executive Officer reportedly led the business deal that has cost the entity thousands of United States Dollars.
As our reporter further investigates, marketers at the Rally Town Market in Monrovia confirmed that the onions are bad for consumption. The marketers said the smell of the onions is causing us health hazard for them.
They disclosed that the spoiled onion bags are being stored within the vicinity of the office of LMA’s Board Chairman.
Sources have also revealed that this is not the first time LMA has been involved into such bad business practice by selling spoiled good to marketers.
“The onions are rotten but the LMA is still selling to us at a very high cost,” one marker frowns.
“The leadership hired a company called CK Management, a French company from the Ivory Coast to supply marketers with essential commodities,” a source hinted.
“The contract was signed and money was given to the same company to produce ID cards for employees which didn’t materialize. The production of the employee’s ID cards became fruitless and the money wasn’t refunded. The company walked away with thousands of US Dollars without providing those
When contacted, LMA National Secretary General, Patrick Sartee said he could not commit on the matter because it is above his limit.
