A joint public hearing is currently underway at the House of Representatives, where current and former government officials are appearing before the Joint Public Accounts and Expenditure Committee to respond to issues raised in the Auditor General’s Special Reconciliation Audit.

The hearing is focused on government tax revenues collected through Government Transitory Bank Accounts and the Consolidated Accounts, covering the period from July 1, 2018, to December 31, 2024.

During the proceedings, lawmakers are seeking explanations and clarifications on findings contained in the audit report, including discrepancies identified by the General Auditing Commission (GAC). The Committee is expected to determine whether further legislative action is required based on the responses provided by the officials.

The public hearing forms part of the Legislature’s constitutional oversight responsibility aimed at strengthening accountability, promoting transparency, and ensuring the proper management of public funds in Liberia
