President Joseph N. Boakai has extended his road connectivity discussion at the US-Africa Summit currently taking place in Dallas, Texas, the United States of America.
Speaking Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at the Presidential Plenary session, President Boakai stated that what Liberia needs now is to build roads network, improve its communication system and build relationships within the South-region.
“I think our communities are very small and with a good road network, we can also improve our trade,” the President indicated.
According to him, the more there are good roads and trade, the more secure we are and the better we can begin to expand our trade and relationship across the borders.
He stated that roads and communication are very important tools that can improve relationships between the regions.
Boakai told business investors and other African and world leaders that Liberia has a border with Ivory Coast, Guinea and Sierra Leone and they have lots of business and family relationships.
“One of the things that we need to improve is road connectivity, that is why we came up with the ARREST agenda and second on that agenda is road because it is very important in terms of connecting to another country,” he narrated.
Boakai said, “Our roads are very difficult and connectivity is very important because there are a lot of border trades, businesses and security.”
He explained that without good road network, the borders especially in the troubled region, there will be no way to improve good country relations.
The President noted that with good communication and a good road network, a country can improve relationships outside of its borders.
