The Environmental Protection Agency of Liberia has reported significant progress in its ongoing county-level engagements across multiple regions of the country. In Buchanan, the EPA delegation led by Executive Director Dr. Emmanuel Urey Yarkpawolo is currently holding a consultative meeting with the Grand Bassa County Administration.
The Director of Environmental Research and Radiation Safety, Rafael Sarji Ngumbu, along with other technical staff of the EPA, is also part of the team engaging county authorities on environmental compliance and challenges affecting the county.
County authorities in Grand Bassa warmly welcomed the EPA team and expressed full support for the nationwide exercise, describing it as timely and essential in addressing environmental concerns such as waste management, pollution, land degradation, and the impact of extractive activities. They further pledged their cooperation with the EPA as the exercise progresses into full implementation stages across the county.
Meanwhile, other EPA teams deployed across the country are also recording positive engagements. Group A held a fruitful meeting with authorities in Gbarpolu, while Group D successfully engaged the Superintendent of Alex Grant in Zwedru.
According to the EPA, these simultaneous engagements reflect a coordinated national approach aimed at strengthening environmental governance, improving compliance monitoring, and ensuring consistent enforcement of environmental laws across all fifteen counties. The agency reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with local authorities and stakeholders to protect Liberia’s environment and promote sustainable development nationwide.
