The National Identification Registry (NIR) Tuesday, May 27, 2025, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) and the National Insurance Company of Liberia (NICOL) for the issuance of ID cards to 5,000 health beneficiaries.
The Liberian government will, for the first time, provide a 100% health insurance benefit to 5,000 citizens from a cross-section of vulnerable and marginalized persons for six months.
Target beneficiaries are required to possess valid NIR ID cards, which shall serve as proof of citizenship. Executive Director Hon. Andrew Peters signed on behalf of the NIR, while Hon. Abdullah L. Kamara, LTA Acting Chairman signed for his entity and NICOL Managing Director Hon. Abdullah S. Swaray signed for his entity. The project is expected to commence in July this year.
